Osteopathy

Osteopathy is a holistic fully-body approach to healing: think a gentle combination of massage, physiotherapy, and chiropractic care all-in-one! It focuses on the structural alignment and integrity of the body to improve the body's musculoskeletal system and organ function. Osteopathy was founded by osteopathic physician, Andrew Taylor Still in the 19th century. He believed that the body is like a machine, which operates well when all of its parts are in a harmonic and balanced relationship. 

Osteopathic practitioners will use various manual therapy techniques to affect all areas in the body, in order to find the root cause of pain or disease. It focuses on restoring proper fluid dynamics, such as blood flow, lymphatic drainage and nerve innervation through soft tissue and joint manipulations. The aim of treatment is to facilitate the body's natural self-healing and self-regulating capabilities.

Hands-On Treatment may involve:

• gentle, rhythmic joint and spinal movements 
• soft tissue techniques: stretching muscles and joint capsules
• muscle energy techniques: allowing muscles to work against resistance
